• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Can someone confirm the hardware version of the D878UVII Plus? I think new ones are version 2 however I bought one that is labelled as the D878VUII Plus but reports as hardware version 1.10. Latest firmware is installed. 3.03

Are there older hardware versions of this same radio?

To see all the hardware and Firmware updates on Anytone 878 or 578 radios, check bridgecomsytems.com/support there you'll find what you need.

Whether BridgeCom Systems website has the answers you seek I am not sure but the correct link is : Help Center

I thought the Model 2 is the 878UVII (and the upgraded 'plus' variant of that) and the Model 1 is the original 878UV

For the 878UVII Plus hardware version is 1.10 and latest firmware 3.03 so it would seem your example is current.

Bridgecomsystems.com still shows support at the header, and still shows the links to the Cps for the 578/878. I was just there yesterday, to deal with a firmware update.

I bought a radio advertised as a UVII Plus but it has a blue button and the hardware version reported on the radio is 1.10. 99% sure that is the 200,000 contact list version with 1GB of storage. Was just hoping someone would check their radio settings and tell me what their UVII Plus hardware version (not firmware version) is.

I will look at my blue button 878 later, and look at email to confirm model shipped to me. I got mine from CSI about 4 years ago. Mine has bluetooth PTT and is bt headset capable.

On a separate note, my mmdvm STM32-dvm is arriving today.

I purchased the AnyTone AT-878 UVII Plus last year and only this year finally got it programmed for digital use and operating perfectly! I have thoroughly enjoyed it and it's many many features ... until today.
Today, after powering up, when I press the SCAN button, or change Scan Modes to something else, I get the following error, which I cannot find "anywhere"!!!

"Book empty!"

I actually put it back to factory and then loaded the code plug again ... same issue. The problem seems to be in the UP/DOWN SCAN LIST option button. When pressed, the issue occurs, or sometimes goes away. The problem is in that button. I sent it off today on an RMA and they are going to fix it/replace it.

I had no idea I would miss it that much ... LOL
Thanks for the ideas ...
