I'm trying to find, so far unsuccessfully a copy of the original manual for the AOR 8000 - AR8000B Receiver. I'm looking for the 'B' model manual. The AR8000B is the AOR 8000 destined for the United States market which is 'cellular' blocked. On AOR's website, they only seem to have the manual for the European/Worldwide AR8000 which details the full frequency coverage in the last part of the manual.

Operation is the same despite the different frequency coverage though.

Thanks for the link. However, that is the same downloadable manual that is on AOR's website. It doesn't show at the end of the manual in the spec. of the receiver that the cellular frequency area is blocked.

Yes you're right -- but I want to get hold of a copy where it is physically printed in the manual where it says the cellular frequency area is blocked.

I have 3 original AR8000's that were cellular blocked, since have been modified including the single inversion unscrambler chip, and all 3 manuals don't say the cellular range is blocked. I never heard of the B copy.

Oh, that's interesting. I 'thought' it would mention in the spec. on Page 115 that the 'cellular' frequency range was blocked. It says the coverage is 500kHz to 1900MHz which, correct me if I'm wrong; that is misleading .. for the 'B' model? The user would assume the receiver has continuous coverage.

Going (temporarily) off topic, what mods have you had done to your 8000?

I had mine modified at the Timonium Md hamfest around 1998 where a guy had a computer to reinstall the cellular for $40 for each scanner. I also bought the 3 single inversion Unscrambler chips at the same hamfest. The local hospital uses single inversion scrambling for patient info coming out of the operating room. I resoldered the wire on all 3 8000's from the circuit board to the BNC connector as they were poor factory solder connections. Mine are still in use scanning milcom and analog comms.
