Hi Eric,

What is stereo decode? Is that for decoding both slots of a DMR channel or decoding plain old stereo FM?

I was wondering how the DV1 handles the voice when both time slots are active with voice on a trunked voice channel.

thanks,
Joe

Hello,

The updated manual is available.
404 Not Found | AOR U.S.A., INC. Torrance, CA U.S.A.

Two interesting things to try are the Stereo Decode and the Frequency Scope. The Stereo Decode is not listed as being in the menus, but I can try it through the serial commands. The Frequency Scope commands are similar to the AR-ALPHA.

I was playing with the Frequency Scope commands on the AR-Alpha and discovered some of the commands are undocumented in the AR-Alpha command list. The Frequency Scope data is also displayed on the AR-Alpha's LCD screen. I am pretty sure I tried the commands on the AR-DV1 and they worked. So it is possible to at least get a Bandscope Display on a computer, much like the Uniden 536/436 scanners.

I am busy developing an EXTIO dll for my AOR AR-Alpha so I have only used the AR-DV1 for some routine listening rather than exploring the features. It appears I could make a "Bandscope App" for both the AR-Alpha and AR-DV1.

Hello everyone! Just got one of these, and if nothing else, it's a pretty set. I have had an easy time decoding the P25 traffic close to me, and it is about as sensitive as my Home Patrol with this. I expected it to not have a great dynamic range on HF, and it lives up to my exptectations; a long antenna is pretty useless on HF without some preselector and attenuator. I'm okay with this; what I don't understand is why the audio bandwidth is about the same as a cheap telephone handset on AM? It sounds good on WFM, so I know the audio amp is up to it, but the whole bottom end of the audio response on mine goes away on AM. Connecting an external speaker, it sounds the same as the tiny built-in speaker. Anybody else experience this? I had a similar complaint on the Commradio CR1 when it first arrived, and the manufacturer heard and improved it greatly. Hope AOR will do this!

Hi John. I have the AOR AR5001d. Everything is settable, including the audio filter characteristics. When I got it, some modes sounded very thin so I prodded buttons until I found the audio menu. In there were various LPF and HPF adjustments and some were set to 600 Hz HPF which was way too high. Selecting 300 Hz fixed its clock.
I don't know if the DV1 has anything similar, but it might be worth digging through the manual.

Thanks for the reply. I have an AR5000, and it also has audio filter settings. I haven't found anything like that in this radio yet, but I'll keep looking. I'll report in if I do!

Hi. I just bought a DV-1, and i'm trying to figure out if it will automatically display CTCSS and DCS codes when they are present. The manual explains how to set it up to do a "tone search", but i think they are referring to searching only for one code at a time. Anyway, I followed the instructions, but no codes are being displayed. Also the manual says the radio must be in the FM mode, not the Auto mode, for tone search to work, but in the FM mode i'm hearing nothing at all.

Is there anyone familiar with the radio, who might have some help? Thanks.

Tic Tic when i'm scanning from speaker

hello, I'm new to this group. I am very happy because I received my ar-dv1 Wednesday. I wanted to know if I am the only one to have tic tic when I scan between different mode? I love are format and aesthetical appearance. It is connected to an antenna discone 30 feet in a tower. This evening I tried to receive digital P25 thank you for your comments on the ... tick tick! coming out of the speaker.

Probleme with CTCSS to decode with DV1

Hello, I have a few frequencies programmed with CTCSS and I noticed the AR-DV1 does not stop on the frequency where there is the activities with the right tone of programmed in memory. I play at a reception menu in the SQL menu and I turn SQL OFF returns to ON and the audio goes again. If I call into scan function. all memories with the same tone , I can receve it. But all other with different tone the dv1 dont stop on busy channel.

I'm only one have this...?

Hi Steve,

Not sure if you are still in contact with Taka but can you please ask to add a radio command to select which voice time slot to monitor. I believe the radio selects the first active time slot currently.

thanks,

Joe

I am going to have to call Taka again. Most of the time I can not enter frequencies or tags into the memory, the letter, number, and enter key work sometimes, most of the times they don't. I have entered data many times into scanners. Seems like there is something wrong with the key entry board.
As I posted on another related thread, I met with Taka again at AOR, took the scanner back at his request to at least wait for an update on firmware. As it is now, at least for me, it is not useable. I can enter frequencies and manually tune, but the radio acts funny when trying to enter any data into the memory or do any searches.
This radio is going in its box and will wait for update firmware. Hopefully will be better. Again, I only took the radio back with the understanding that I can return it after firmware update if not working properly to my satisfaction. I will at least do that.
I'm glad you're having a bit more luck BamaScan. Hope others who bought the radio will chime in. Not worth the hassle.

In Montreal right now on last leg of a "fall foliage" vacation in Maine, Halifax, and Quebec. Will try and contact Taka when I return to Los Angeles at end of the week.

Has any DV-1 Owners been able to find any dPMR digital signals or any Alinco Digital Signals ? If they were on HF give me the frequency, I have not found any yet.

In this end of the world dPMR mainly used with UHF PMR handheld
