Hello guys,
Last week my AR7000 has stopped working.
NO video, No Audio.
The monitor turns on but nothing appears, I tried an external monitor, but is the same.
I have checked all the tensions and look right.
I can not get the service manual of this unit, I sent an email to AOR japan, but still have not replied.
Does anyone have the electronic diagram of this unit?

Wow, what a neat unit and sorry to hear that. I do not have their information handy, but go to AOR's site and follow to their California office. Think his name is Tagya (????) excellent tech and seems to run things. I have always had excellent service and quality work from them.

I, too, have had a great experience with the AOR CA office. I shipped my AR5K+3 to have them review my Collins filter installation and generally "tune-up" the rig. VERY fast service and pleased with their communication/accessibility.

AOR USA INC unfortunately has responded as follows.
"Dear Sir,
The AR7000 was an OEM products for AOR, and therefore, no technical information was
provided by its manufacturer. Unfortunately, the company has been out of business and
we are no longer available to get any information.
We truly apologize for your inconvenience.
Sincerely,

AOR USA, INC."

However, the magnificent response of AOR Japan has been the following:

"Thank you for your interest in AOR and message.
Attached you will find the diagrams for your convenience. It is an old model which is not serviced anymore, because of no spare parts available. You are pretty much on your own but hope that you will be able to repair it locally.
We wish you many more hours of pleasureful listening.

Best regards,

AOR Ltd."

And they have sent me the service manual.

Thank you all for your comments, and thank you very much to AOR japon.
Now we will try to find that it fails

Hi Domingo,
I also have an AOR AR7000 which is giving me problems.
Probably a bad power supply Capacitor.
Do you have any documentation on this unit that you could share with me.
Thanks,

Hello. Is there any way you could post that schematic again, or send it to me? I just got an AR7000 and it is curious: when I use a small telescopic whip for the antenna, it picks up all sorts of things, but when I connect a real 50 ohm source (my outdoor antenna through a splitter), it is quite deaf. I have several other radios on this system, including an AR5000, and they work fine. I'm wondering if the first RF amp in the AR7000 is okay.

ar7000 manual

thank you very much! I'll see what's going on with this set. Seems to be pretty cool, but I just can't connect it to a decent antenna.

AR7000 repaired!

First of all, thanks for the schematics; couldn't have fixed it without them!

I was thinking that my AR7000 just didn't like my antenna, but it turns out that it had a good reason not to.

There are three SM caps in parallel between the HF bandpass section and the attenuator. Two of them were shorted and sending 5v to the antenna socket. Connecting a telescopic or other high impedance antenna worked fine. But when I connected a low DC resistance antenna, the switching voltage for the bandpass filters went to ground and not much got through.

Replacing those caps did the trick, and now I'm suitably impressed with the AR7000's capabilities!

What are the chances of having two surface mount capacitors go bad like that???

My AR7000 went "deaf" and has 4.5 VDC on the input BNC.
I hope it is something similar to John's problem.
I would really appreciate it someone could send me the schematics and manual.
I can't get the 2 shortcuts to work that Domingo posted in 2009.
