Well worth the saving
Just to be Clear It DOES NOT have trunking, Digital,
and rebaniding isnt a issue here as this Does NOT Trunk
It ok cause this Unit wasnt designed for those purposes
My ONLY Complaint is the lack of a Built in PL Decoder:roll:
But its ok I have Three others that do just that and SOOO much more
LOL
And Yes You can buy A CT decoder seperate buut I'd rather save my
money for now LOl

You should go here for this Reciever and Many More

Who would you send a 1st generation (about 11 or 12 years) old Ar8000 to for repair..I have been out of the loop on the 8000 for a couple of years and would appreciate some recomendations on a good, honest repair facility.....Thanks Bob H

In the UK I'd speak to AOR themselves. They and Lowe Electronics both have excellent customer service response.
I'd speak to AOR in the USA first if over there.

YES VERY true indeed!!
In 2006 I emailed both USA and The UK
Doing the usual before I buy research
The UK Emailed IN DETAIL my questions and concerns
while the USA"s
NONE not ONE email yet and that was was late summer throughout early fall:roll:
Anyways
Yeah I'd gladly pay duty taxes or whatever applies to do business with them if it wasnt for scannersunlimited
Cause I think most Americans Just arent up to par anymore
sad but true

I want to say it was the same with the UK too but it doesn't hurt to ask to be sure.

I think it's pretty much just done. Support comes by buying another unit for parts.

Biggest problem with something like your AR8000 is whether you can justify spending an ammount that would likely be higher than you'd need to spend to get a reasonable spec new scanner. I guess it depends what you use it for.

The AR8000 was good in it's day and I still have a couple here. If they were to go chips and I couldn't repair them myself then they'd be scrapped as uneconomic to repair though.

I bought my AOR AR8200 MK3 from Glenn at Scanners Unlimited in person, and feel I received the product I wanted at a fair price. I also bought my Uniden BC246T from him by E-Mail (and US Mail to send the payment), and the hardest part was waiting for it to get here. The prices at Scanners Unlimited may be somewhat higher than the cheapest you can find on the Internet, but this is a small independent operation, with a retail location, and Glenn has great customer service. I have also purchased several other scanners and Ham Radios from another vendor (HRO) when I thought that they had a better deal at the time.
