AOR MA500 Antenna Cost

Is there a reason that the AOR MA500 mag mount mobile antenna is so much more expensive than other antennas? Are the specs so much better? I am running an ICOM IC-R2 and my new BCD396T.

I have to admit that both scanners perform well inside the car using a variety of good quality (Pryme and Comet) stock antenna replacements purchased in the past. I just don't know how to justify $100ish on a mag mount.

Maybe I should just leave well enough alone but I am curious as to the price of the AOR.

Without exception, everything marketed by AOR is expensive...way over priced is more like it. I've never been impressed with anything that had AOR's name on it.
