AOR receiver ***Solved***

Hello,

While I was using Butels ARC8200 software on my AOR 8200MKIII my display quit working. There isn't anything displayed however the receiver still works lss the display.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? If so how did you rectify it?

I don't believe it will be covered under warranty; the unit was purchased on ebay.

Thanks,

Mike

Is it just the backlight or a blank display? You can try taking the unit apart. Ground yourself first. It could be a bad connection between the chip that is driving the display and the display itself. Wiggle the display a little (While powered up), this may reseat the display and a good connection may result.

Hello,

Perhaps the Contrast Setting for your display was changed when the software wrote to the radio. On page 137 in the OM, it says it can be changed in the CONFIG menu and should be set to around 10. I'm not sure how to do that with your software, because I don't own the ARC8200 program. You probably can fix this using AOR Workshop. I think the setting would be Setup, Operating Features, LCD Brightness. Hope this points you in the right direction.

JMedley_1 - The backlight lights up but nothing is displayed. I plan to look for a bad connection as you suggested. I opened it last night and I didn't see anything obvious.

Mark - I don't believe I changed any such setting but I suppose the software could have when it wrote data to the unit.

10 minutes later................

Yes!

I don't know what happened but after opening the unit with the same results I tried the software and its backup/restore feature. There is an option to reset the display and it solved the problem.

I appreciate the help from both of you guys. Thanks.
