I just ordered anAOR SA7000 Wide-Band antenna from Grove Enterprises. I intend to use it on my Icom PCR-1500 communications receiver.

I've been very curious about this antenna for some time now. I guess it's not real popular due to it's price, and also not appearing to be anything "cool" to look at. But I think it's going to meet my needs just fine. After I get it up in the air, I'll come back and let everyone know how it works. I'll probably upgrade the coax on it prior to installation.

AOR SA 7000 Antenna

I am also interested in this antenna. Just printed out the spec sheet from the AOR site and it looks intriging. I'm using a Grove windom product along with a Antenna Specialists Monr 33.

Just wonder how it will perform on HF. Tempted to try reverse engineering and make one.

The SA7000 picks up where shortwave leaves off, 30MHz. So I wouldn't expect it to be ideal for any frequencies below 30MHz, aka shortwave. For shortwave I ordered the PAR Super-Shortwave antenna, also from Gove.

The PAR SWL antenna is superb. I use one and have been very happy with it. The noise level is so low at first I thought I didn't have it connected to the radio.. LOL. Then out of the blue I hear the signal and its 20 over 9.... YES YES YES!!

My antennas arrived today from GROVE! I took a few pictures of the AOR SA-7000, as there really isn't much on the sites. Check it out! The build quality is really nice! I can't wait to get it up on the roof!

Curious to know how you like it?

It works very well! However, I had only been using it sitting on my desk, inside the house. It performed very good from 26MHz thru 950MHz. Quality of materials, and construction are top notch, and I'm sure it would stand up to years of harsh weather. I never got around to putting it up on the roof. My buddy has a cottage way North of me, and had a ice damaged ScanTenna on his tower that he wanted to replace. He had some satilite internet company coming out to install an antenna for that, so I ended up selling him the SA-7000, so they could add it on to the tower while they were up there.

Because of my expanded interest in MilCom/MilAir, I decided to go with a MilTenna UHF Air Band LP Antenna, [220~400MHz],from DPD Productions:

Then I may also put up a dedicated antenna around 866MHz for the MPSCS digital system in Michigan.

Thanks for the info. Was considering this antenna to purchase along with a Yaseu VR-5000 in the future.
