APCO 25 digital used much / going to be used much?

Wondering whether to get the BC296D or the BC250D. I notice the 296 comes with the card installed and with Truck Tracker IV (gets the 9600 baud) while the 250 does not have the card and comes with Trunk Tracker III (can not get the 9600 baud).

Any opinions on the importance of the 9600 baud?

The NEWEST (Non M/A-Com) digital TRS systems put out by Motorola are called ASTRO-25 and are 9600 KBPS baud rate.... The PRO-96, and the BC pair (296D/796D) are already prepared for these systems... they are the future in that they are fully APCO P-25 compliant (not to mention the 250D is officially discontinued)

All the up and comming 700 MHz Trunked Systems will be APCO P-25 compliant, thus 9600. Most of the digital systems comming online now in VHF, UHF, and 800 will be APCO P-25 compliant, with a few on the 3600 CC's............

The only downside is if your in an area that is installing EDACS Provoice digital systems, as no scanner made will do this type of system.
