is there a software that would take a regular analog trunking scanner
and decode the APCO-25 (un-encrypted) via the PC speaker?
from a pro-2051.

I don't think it is that simple. I have never heard of anything like that.

I'm sure someone more well informed will weigh in here.

There is no such software, and even it it was available would be expensive (since you'd have to pay the license fee, the same reason all digital scanners are about $250 more than their analog counterpart.)

Wow is that right? I wondered why the price was so much more (even if you take into consideration similar features, discounting their digital reception).

So the airways aren't that free after all How is the "fee" determined - considering the applicant doesn't know how many units will be sold?

I guess I don't have an equipped with a 10.7MHz IF output.
