Appeal For Help: MA Database

Folks,

For the past few days I have gone through every town/city in Massachusetts and reset the geotag to what I feel/hope is the closest approximation to that town's geopolitical boundaries as possible.

I have had one individual submitting geotags to me for the Central MA area, I did not change those as I am reasonably assured that he is submitting accurate data.

At this point I am going to start working on geotag tweaks to the MSP trunked system, other trunked systems, and statewide and regional systems both conventional and trunked. But, with regards to the cities and towns of MA I am not going to change geotags any further unless they are submitted by people familiar with the area. I am requesting that if you have an interest in geotagging for GPS based scanning or would just like to help by providing accurate coordinates and radiuses that completely enclose the city or towns you're familiar with, that you please use the submission area of RR and send them to me. It is my hope to provide data that is as accurate as possible for our state.

In addition to that any updated frequency, subaudible tone, etc. information is always welcome. At this point I'm checking the submission queue almost daily for updates. I'll also be using the data at my website's wiki to help in updating some areas. Here at RR I think we are lacking in some reporting for the Central and Western MA areas. I'm guessing that some of the data provided here is out of date.

Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions. Coordinates should be sent in the DMS format.

Scott, aren't the geotag latitude/longitude used by Radio Reference in decimal degrees, e.g.
Latitude 42.27632
Longitude -71.79839

Are you asking for them as 42:16:35, -71:47:54 ???

I guess just about everyone is thrilled....giddy....head over heels with the updated GPS information I entered...given the overwhelming response to my request for assistance.

Fairhaven needs a minor tweak. West Island on the southeast is outside the boundary. The 5 mile radius covers well to the north and west, so you can leave the radius the same and change the centerpoint to 41.64N, 70.88W

The Town/City Boundary Map gives a red outline of municipal boundaries on a Google map

The County City Town Zip Code Boundary Map gives shaded areas per Zip Code - I can see that 2 Zip Codes cover the Arlington municipal boundaries - and 2 Zip Codes seem to cover Lexington Mass also

I took care of all pending submissions. I've been out of state for several days; just getting caught up. Headed home tomorrow.

Western MA seems pretty much up to date, at least in the Pioneer Valley. Hampden County is pretty complete. The only thing I am not really able to confirm are the Corrections frequencies.

My main scanning areas are Springfield, Holyoke, East Longmeadow, Longmeadow, West Springfield, Wilbraham, Ludlow and MSP Troop B, and all my frequencies match up with what we have here.

I'm going to do a day or two of searches and see what else I come up with from the center of Springfield, and maybe look into Chicopee PD as well.. I dont seem to ever be able to pick them up.

I had posted a question asking if Belchertown FD and PD had narrow-banded since I was noticing reduced volume when I went through there. No answer yet though.

I agree Hampden County looks good. Except I would make one request for Six Flags, all the talkgroups labeled "other". Can they be changed to something that will show on the HP-1? I have a list of freq. to submit and as soon as I get some time I will submit them. Thank You

For the database admins here, ticket #115919 I realized after (first submission I have ever made) that I may have used some terms that anyone out of the state may not know. Actually Scott, I was requesting a statewide page for the VHF freq. for the Pike since especially with E3 barracks still heavily using it and actually referenced your scan-ne wiki page.
