Can I be a feed provider with an Apple computer? Do I use the microphone input for my scanner in order to be a feed provider?

I actually just set this up myself. It is definitely possible.

You'll need Nicecast which is $40: Rogue Amoeba | Nicecast: Broadcast Any Audio To The Internet, Right From Mac OS X
You can read about setting it up here:
Mac Nicecast Setup Instructions - The RadioReference Wiki

You'll plug your audio cable into the Line-In port on your Mac (there is no microphone input on modern Macs). The port directly next to the headphone port that looks identical is a line-in (which is actually better for this application).

You also need to use a 1:1 audio transformer to isolate your Mac Electronics from your scanner radio electronics.

Could you please elaborate? I don't have anything special in my setup.

What I have:
Motorola GP-68 with stereo audio cable connected to headphone-out jack
Other end of stereo audio cable connected to line-in on Mac
Nicecast setup as described in above wiki article except I have stereo instead of mono selected (as I'm using a stereo cable)

I realize mono is the recommended route, and I will switch as soon as I get the cable, but this works fine as-is.

In case you have not seen this, here is what you need for: Setting up your Broadcasting Station

Thanks Rich. As I mentioned my setup is working. I just stopped over to my local Radio Shack and purchased the Y splitter + mono to RCA cables and put them in place. Doesn't seem to make any difference, but if they are the recommended way to do it I don't mind a couple of bucks towards that.
