• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I got this Motorola APX 6000. The Bluetooth connection seems to be picky in connection with devices. Any known Bluetooth speaker or Bluetooth headphones would work with the radio Bluetooth?

Thanks

I am hearing impaired which I need hearing aids. The radio tech tried to pair my hearing aids to the APX 6000 but did not work. I am unable to understand majority of the radio traffic coming from the small radio speaker. Therefore, I am looking for headset that would go over my hearing aids or even a larger speaker which might help me. Thank you for the reply, but I see that thread was not helpful.

I haven't used hearing aids so I don't know how much they extend past your ear. A good option for this would be to use your hearing aids and then use the Mission Critical Bluetooth Pod. PN NTN2570. This item is a small BT pod with a small earpiece that floats over your ear. It does not go into your ear canal. The earpiece sits very close to your ear canal so the hearing aid should pick it up very well.

Another option could be the Mission Critical wireless RSM. You could wear it high up on your shirt near your shoulder.

You can try an aftermarket adapter like Pryme. Or upgrade to an APX N70 that allows aftermarket bluetooth connections. Or switch to a Unication G5.

Have you tried the wireless speaker mic. I use hearing aids and that mic I can place near my ear without cords is nice.

No I haven’t. I heard at least 2 mention the wireless speaker mic sound quality was not that great. It was mentioned that the speaker mic has an output that can be connected to the vehicle sound system, I thought that was cool. I just might see if the radio tech would let me test one out.

maybe I am looking at the wrong item because I don’t see how fitting over the ear.

I picked this earpiece up a few months back. Pairs with my APX8000 with no issues. You can't adjust the volume, but I found it a-okay for most situations.

You'll need 2 things:
  1. Standard Pairing checkbox checked in CPS
  2. BT menu option enabled in CPS
