• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

APX 7000 startup error

When the APX 7000 is powered up I get "FL 01/A2". I looked up the error which states:

FAIL 01/A2
Tuning Codeplug Checksum
Reprogram the tuning partition

I have flashed the firmware to the latest version and rewrote the codeplug. Has anyone encountered this error before?
Thanks.

Was this an ebay special? I remember seeing an APX7000 with that exact error on startup

Do you have tuner? Read the radio in tuner and write the tuner file back to the radio.

It took me awhile to get the tuner, but I did. I read the radio and saved the tuner file. Then I just tried to write to device, and I get "There are softpot values program failed" I see when I initially read the radio, I have the Host version and DSP version. When I close out and read that tuner file, they are blank.

I just wanted to read and write to see if that would clear the FL 01/A2 error. I did not want to change any values. I see that I just cannot read then write. I have to save the file first then read it. Then the write option appears. I know it is probably user error. If someone could help me out, I would appreciate it. Thanks

This is going to require a trip to the depot for repair. If you do not have the clean tuning file from BEFORE the radio corrupted to load back in, Motorola will have to generate one and program it in, along with a full alignment. The catch now is that they may or may not repair that radio. Our agencies have been hit and miss on 7000s. Sometimes they get fixed, other times they are returned with a note that says "unpreparable".

Would it be possible to read and save a tuning file from another radio that works fine?

Use the federal depot. They fix anything.:p
