After around 12 hours of labor and many many many days of work I completed my APX install into my car, here are some pictures of the process.

I don't know how much transmitting you do but that brick might get pretty hot where it's installed. No ventilation at all for it under the console like that. I hope it works out for you.

I mean, dang - that's some serious work! Not many will put in the effort to accomplish that. I do echo what Skypilot007 said about ventilation but I'm sure you'll get a solution for that. I'm too lazy, I would have just mounted it under the seat, lol; I admire the time it took to get that done!

Mach Alert installed APX6500s and XTL2500s in our FSA units. Each one is a NEMA 4 enclosure that has zero vents. No fans. The two radios get boiling hot, especially the 2500 which serves as the IV&D radio which CONSTANTLY pings the zone controller saying "I'm here". When I open the boxes to reset them or PM the radios, the 2500's heat sink is so hot you can't keep your fingers on it.

I've had them in service since we went live in 2015. One radio out of 15 have failed. If they can live in this nearly airtight box for years exceeding their 5/5/90 duty cycle, that 7500 should be fine unless the user is constantly transmitting at full power on it.

The install is clean, but from a service standpoint, is a nightmare. I would have opted for an O3. The only other thing is the VHF antenna on the front fender, very close to the engine and other noise makers, may make RX of weaker signals a challenge. But overall, a clean install. Cleaner than some of the so called "upfitters" in this area who do crap work and charge premium dollars (mostly paid for by taxpayers).

Clean install but as other said service is gonna suck. When that adapter on the PL259 loosens up it will have issues. If I was going to burry a deck like that I'd make sure all the proper connectors are on it along with a rear programming cable and extensions to an area I can get to to check power or GPS.
