If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a Motorola APX 8000 & APX 7000 radio that I'm testing on a Harris P25 system. Whenever I declare an emergency from an APX, a "User Alerts" dialogue box displays on every Harris/Maestro console requiring the dispatcher to acknowledge the emergency. How do I disable this in the code plug as to prevent a User Alert from popping up on the console? Is there a similar feature on a Motorola console?

Thanks!

I'm not too familiar with Harris consoles, but that might partly be a console setting. However, there is definitely going to be an alert of some kind to let the dispatcher know there's an emergency alarm; Motorola consoles flash the talkgroup or channel resource red and make an obnoxious honking noise.

I do know that both radios have a checkbox setting which requires a console ack; in the APX radios it's on the Emergency Profile associated to the personality the talkgroup is in ("Console Ack Required" checkbox). Take a look to see if that's checked, and if so, uncheck it.

Thanks for the reply! I did notice the "Console Ack Required" box, but it is unchecked. And we do want the dispatcher to see the module turn red and hear the audible tones (normal emergency behavior)... but on these Harris consoles a large pop-up box called "User Alerts" shows up on the screen and requires the dispatcher to do some clicking to exit the pop-up. I know that there is NOT a way to disable "User Alerts" on the Maestro console. I also know that on the Harris radio there is a setting in RPM where you can tell the radio to either send the User Alert or not (checkbox called "Send Emer. Alarm"). I just don't know how to disable on an APX radio??
