• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

APX APX Alias upload from console

This is one of those "I've done it in the past but I forgot what I did". A couple of years ago I was able to upload the alias into a few APX radios from the console. They have since changed quite a bit and when I tried to update the aliases I realized that I totally forgot how to do it. I was able to download the aliases from the manager however I'm not able to get it loaded into the radio, it tells me the file is an invalid type. I've even looked at the source code for the 2 files, the one I uploaded years ago and the one I downloaded recently and they look nothing alike. Maybe I'm missing something or it needs to be converted somehow. I know I'm missing a step somewhere but I'm hoping someone that's worked with aliases can help me out. TIA

It wants the IV&D (IvdRadio_xxxxx.csv) export file from PM, not the template with records file (IvdRadio_Import_xxxxx.csv). Make sure you've got the correct file. If you see asterisks and plus signs in the column headers, it's the wrong file.

PS - If any of the contact names are longer than 14 characters in PM, CPS is going to throw an invalid field for each of them.

So I have alias.csv, unit.csv, and ccg.csv. I'm pretty sure that's the only files it gives me the option to export. I'll have to take a look at it next time. Like I said, probably missing a step somewhere.

You're getting them out of ASTRO 25 Provisioning Manager, correct? If so, go to the Subscriber > Radio > IVD Radio section. Click on the CSV Report button in the top right corner of the screen, and select the report that exports only the records, not the template option. You should wind up with a file named something like IvdRadio_20220904213105.csv, which is what CPS is looking for with the Import From Console feature to populate the codeplug's UCL.

Unless you referring to something different?

I'm getting it from the Console Alias Manager
I'm not familiar with that method, sorry, but here's an alternative. Create your own CSV file with two columns: Radio ID and Radio User Alias , making sure to include the header exactly as noted below. You should be able to convert whatever list you have now to this simple format for importing.

Radio ID,Radio User Alias
100,Console 100
101,Console 101
102,Console 102
103,Console 103
104,Console 104
105,Console 105
106,Console 106

Next time I'll have to see if I can find what you are talking about. IIRC the last time I did it I was able to just pull a file from CAM and somehow make that work into my APX. I'll be damned if I remember the steps how.

If you have any sort of dump of the RID's and aliases, you can put them into a spreadsheet, then export them as a CSV file, which APX CPS will import into the UCL. Again, just make sure to include the column headers as shown above. Easy peasy.

This was so much simpler than the tools I was trying to use to make this work. Thank you for your help!
