• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

APX 900- Have radio profile set to loud. The settings are great on receive much more audio out of the speaker then the standard setting. However; I would like the audio from the internal speaker and or remote mic to come out with more bass and tone down the treble side. Can anyone suggest good "receive" audio settings this would be only for a system using digital, no analog? See my settings currently in use attached. Suggestions welcome for receiving audio. (Not a very loud environment I'm working in other then on an ambulance or the side of a highway). Thanks fellows!!!

1st make sure your viewing the codeplug in expert mode. Next under your radio profiles loud audio scroll down to speaker / rx settings, under audio equalization change group setting to custom for both radio and accessory. Then modify digital low frequency band for both radio and accessory.

The problem I've found with changing the RX audio settings are unless every subscriber on the system is the same manufacturer using the same TX audio setting, its not going to work. For example, I've tweaked my TX audio per system on my APX's which sounds great on the RX side for my ears compared to default Motorola settings, just crisps it up in my opinion. But then someone will blast me out of the room or a console will be set with gain jacked all up or a dispatcher is using a headset and whisper talks. Just my .02

Yeah, even then there is no guarantee of success. APX portable sounds different than an APX mobile even with the same TX EQ parameters due to difference in microphones, and the APX consolette normally sounds awful due to the desk mic having way too much gain and/or no one bothering to tweak the audio if it's interfaced with a console.

tl;dr It's often a futile effort

Give this a try, Audio Settings, Audio Equalization, Group Setting, Radio & Accessory, Select XTS as your setting. The audio will sound much like it did on the XTS series of radios.

@GTR8000 and I tested a few different settings a while back...I settled on XTS Audio Equalization for digital and Custom for analog with the same Low Frequency Band setting as -3 and the "High Frequency Band" changing from from 6 to 3.

And actually the XTS setting is available in the default Full view, don't even need Expert (although Expert will display more parameters)

Good catch, I had completely forgotten about that parameter being a prerequisite for getting into the advanced audio options.
