• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

we have over 80 APX6000 with each person having two impress batteries. some will not show the battery level. They are placed in the charger, some over night so they are fully and correctly charged. Is anyone else having this issue. has anyone found a solution. Our radio technique shaking his head.

When was the last IMPRESS cycle done on the batteries in question? You can force the charger to do a IMPRESS cycle by dropping the battery in the charger and with in a couple seconds remove the battery and put it back in. The yellow light display on the charge to indicate the IMPRESS cycle.

I second that motion. I had that happen with my 7000's battery about 5 months after getting it. Turned out the charger didn't feel like conditioning it and I think the battery firmware got a little confused.

Condition the batteries and try it again. If that doesn't do it, see if you have a BATT menu item programmed in the radio or can program one, and try checking to see if the radio will read the battery data via that menu.

Glad it worked. These batteries will loose the ability to display the battery gauge if they haven't had the IMPRESS cycle in a couple weeks. For the life of me I can't remember how long for sure. If these batteries you had the issue with are back up batteries and don't see the charger very often you might run into this again. However that doesn't mean they are dead, they just won't show how much life is remaining in them.

Yup. Happens to me all the time. I leave a back up battery for 3 weeks and the gauge and battery info are gone. A drop in the charger and it's fixed.
