• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Just received a 6000 BN model and noticing low volume as bad as a AN model. Any tips to possibly fix the problem would be greatly appreciated.

The only solution is to add QA09006 Adaptive Noise Suppression to the FLASHcode, which unlocks the additional wattage on the amplifier. Otherwise you're stuck with the same pitiful audio output as the AN models.

PS - If you have a 6000Li, QA09006 is not an available option; must be the full feature 6000/6000XE BN model.

I have a 6000XE BN. Thanks for the help, I’ll flash that option in.

I thought I read it already had a 1 watt output. I know the AN has a .5

Yep the BN with that flash should have a 1 watt speaker.

The 6000BN/8000 XE models, along with the 8000H/HXE all have a 3 watt ( 5 watt max audio ) speaker.

Not sure if it’s a different speaker in the 6000BN XE / 8000H models or just same speaker with a higher output.

Yup, huge difference. That feature is standard on the 8000, but optional with the 6000BN. Unfortunately it seems that many don't realize that feature unlocks the full output of the audio amp, so they don't order it.

Speaking of speakers ( see what I did there )

All the Motorola specs pages say for a APX6000BN XE, APX8000XE, APX8000H and APX8000HXE all have a 3 watt speaker ( 5 watts max output )

Whereas just the standard apx8000 and apx6000BN have a 1 watt speaker.

Can anyone verify that ? Does the 3 watt / 5 watts max speaker sound that much better than the standard 1 watt speaker on the 6000BN / 8000 ?
