• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi guys... I know the CPS pretty well, but there is one thing I can't find... is there a way, to put a Trunking channel in RX only? I don't care if it does affiliate(it is a legetimate radio with a legetimate ID on the system), but for our FD we want to program them the PW TG only for listening. I've alrealy tried the "non-affiliate" method, but sometimes the conversation just pass and the radio never"wake up" I know we can do it in Conv but can I just "delete" the PTT button in Trunking on ONE TG only?

Thanks

I'm not in front of my CPS at the moment but there is a monitor only option. Might be in the Trunking Personality setup.
The radio will still affiliate but you will not be able to transmit.

I believe you create another trunking personality (using the same system) and set the transmit mode (under general) to "TG/AG Disabled"
Make sure to set your scan list in this personality too if you want them to still scan their other TGs while selected on the PW TG.

Unless they fixed this in a firmware update, if a personality is set for TG/AG Disabled on Transmit mode- you CAN'T ASSIGN A SCAN LIST TO THE PERSONALITY.

I ran this question up thru the product development group thru my system engineer from Motorola and basically got the answer- thats how it is live with it. . . . .

I definitely have a scan list assigned to my personality, and it's also set for TG/AG Disabled (I have a four year old that loves to get his hands on these portables). I'm running R15.10.00, but am pretty sure I had it configured as such with R14.

Your system engineer needs to read the CPS help files more often:

So as long as the following field is set up with "Talkback" instead of "Selected Channel" You can assign scanlists to RX only personalities all day long :)

Are you saying you can't assign a scan list to a personality because it gives you an error? If so, in the scan list you have to set the Designated Voice Tx Member Type to Talkback, it won't let you talkback since the Transmit Mode is set to TG/AG Disable.

Just seen KE4ZNR beat me to it haha.

Found this issue over 4 years ago with the APX. . . . We are set to "Selected Channel" and do not permit users to use "Talkback Scan" on our system.

Forgot that our system engineer and the product group did mention using Talkback Scan.

Its funny that EF Johnson in the Viking Series and Kenwood in the TK5430 series (non Viking firmware upgrade) can have a talkgroup to TX only with no issues or restrictions on the Scan list but Motorola has this particular restriction with "Selected Channel" on the scan list. . . tied to a RX Only personality.
