• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Howdy. I have an APX6kXE that I recently had programmed. When it was last programmed it used CPS R28 and they used R33 this time. The radio firmware as R25.01.00. The radio turns on and almost instantly turns off and will forever loop, programmers claim it turned on fine...

Any suggestions or explanations?

And I do have a legit MOL account so I can access any software they have to fix it if I needed to.

Let me know.

Is the battery good? Any damage to the contacts internally?

You could try to update the firmware to 28 or 33 (I would skip 29-32) and that may fix your issue, Failing that its off to the depot.

I’m not able to get it on long enough for windows to recognise the device, is there a way to get around it maybe a service mode?

You are going to have to ship it off to the repair depot. No way around it.
Not even a service mode or flashzap is going to help you with firmware that new.

That’s stupid, already dumped enough money into depot I’m tempted to switch to Harris, never heard any issues from the guys I work with.

I agree! Only Motorola radios ever break, Harris, EFJ, Kenwood, Tait, RELM and a host of others never have ANY issues. Feel free to send that piece of crap 6000XE my way so you never have to see it again.

I had this same thing happen, I changed the channel to an unprogrammed channel and it kept the radio on, just said "unprogrammed" on the display and gave the bonk, but it didn't restart.. I read and rewrote the codeplug and it worked just fine.

If you happen to have an unprogrammed channel in that zone try that, if not you're SOL, like others have said unless mother /\/\ graciously fixes it with depot

Got the same thing here, except this radio is on R31 (yes, I have the MTN for that). Turns on, then goes into a loop. got the radio in FLASHZAP mode, but CPS will not connect to update the firmware. Was hoping it was as easy as the XT series.

Nope. Only solution is to send it off to be repaired.

Normally the AN are not supported for repairs however I believe they will fix the boot looping issue as they dont need to replace parts. Basically just need to hook to a computer and use special tools to force a new codeplug into radio, update firmware and tune the radio.
