If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

APX7000 intermittently not receiving a conventional Astro channel during scan.

I am having an issue during scan with my APX7000 UHF2 / VHF potable radio. I have a Rx only conventional Astro channel programmed that will not consistently Rx during scan. If the scan mode is off, the channel is loud and clear. If the channel is the selected channel / priority one during scan mode, it will also Rx loud and clear. As soon as this channel becomes a non priority member of the scan list, it has intermittent issues and scan mode will not pick up the channel consistently. The radio's primary frequency band is UHF2 with VHF as secondary. The frequency of the channel is in the 482 mhz range. I have no issues with the other scan list members that are a mix of either VHF Astro, VHF analog, or UHF analog. I've deleted the personality in programming and started over with default values and I still can't get the channel to reliable receive during scan. This problem stumps me and hopefully someone can point out what I'm missing.

Thanks

Is the frequency in question P25 simulcast? If so set the digital modulator to CQPSK and see if that resolves your issue.

I don't believe the frequency is P25 simulcast but I could be wrong. I will give it a try and see what happens. I can tell you that my UHF XTS5000 Model III has no issues with the same frequency when scanning it as a non priority member.

Unfortunately that did not resolve the issue. I’m probably going to try and get it retuned and aligned but I don’t think that’s the issue since the channels all Rx fine when not scanning.

I've seen this issue within the past year on a UHF conventional P25 channel with an APX 8000, however that channel was using encryption. I gave up on trying to figure out the issue after trying numerous things to get it working, and I haven't gone back to it because the channels weren't all that important in the grand scheme of things.

What firmware are you at?

Firmware is r29.02.00

This channel does not use encryption. It’s a weird issue that I’ve never encountered before.

Turning off priority scan fixed the problem. I’m guessing the radio doesn’t have enough time to decode the data to unmute in between priority samples.
Interesting. Thanks for updating us.
