• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

1. If I am reading the HELP section correctly, the only way to edit the scan list via the soft keys on the radio is to add all the channels I want (potentially every channel in the radio) to the scan list via CPS. Then the scan list can be edited via the soft keys. is the correct? Is there any other way to edit the scan list via the soft keys without entering all the channel via the CPS. All the channels in the radio show on the display when I enter the EDIT scan mode, but I cannot add any channel that is not entered in to the scan list via CPS.

2. How do I switch between the various scan lists (i.e. Scan List 1, Scan List 2) on the radio itself?

For #1, I don't believe they need to be in the list. Edit should allow you to add any. I suggest checking your non-priority list option (can't recall the exact name) in the scan list configuration. Make sure it is set to user defined and not fixed.
For #2, Each personality has a linked scan list. I don't believe you can do what you ask.

Attach to the personality a big ol' scan list set to allow non-priority items to be user-defined with a bunch of Unassigned scan list entries. The scan list can only be populated with as many entries as are defined in CPS. So an empty scanlist can't have new entries added, but a huge scanlist with a ton of Unassigned entries can have all of those populated on the fly.

As Thunder said, scan lists are tied by CPS to personalities via the drop-down selection in the personality page. You can have each channel on a different personality with its own scanlist for that personality, but you cannot have multiple scanlists on one personality regardless of the number of channels that are defined in that personality.
