• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have an APX8000 one of the systems is phase II, Ioad the code plug and it works fine. If I turn the radio off and then back on, or switch to a different system and then back, it will not receive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Don

You won't like this question, but is this radio allowed on the system or are you just using it as a scanner?

Kevin,

It is setup not to affiliate with the system, it works through conventional settings.

Don

My guess then is it's siting on a site that doesn't carry the traffic you want. If the coverage type is set to SmartZone this can happen.

Phase 2 will have no bearing on this (assuming it sometimes works that is).

It will work fine all day, the minute i turn it off and back on I have to reload the code plug.
Do you think there is any solution to my problem?
I also use the radio for VHF and UHF ham bands, that works fine.
Is there any way you could look at my code plug?

I'd rather not have my fingerprints on anyone's codeplug.

Feel free to post it and maybe someone else will look at it for you.

Is this a multi-site System? If so what is likely happening is when you turn your radio on it scans the pre-programmed control channels. Once it finds an active one, the radio will monitor the control channel data and “download” the current adjacent site control channel lists and add it to its flash memory (note, this can not be viewed in the codeplug). Next time you turn it on, the radio is likely voting out the site of interest for a better site which is not carrying the traffic you are interested in.

Check and makes sure the either SmartZone isn’t selected or set your site preference to always for that site in your trunking personality.
