• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey Group! Can anyone chime in and confirm if the Moto HLN1439 old school siren amp will in fact work 100% when interfaced to an 8500 WITH the J6 Accy Conn to DB25FM cable? There would also be a URC connected to the 8500. Thanks in advance for any help! Stay Safe!

installed my 8500 and hooked cables up.
Using the J600 to DB25 pigtail? Or are you saying the face of your 8500 has a DB25 female? Reason I ask is because in my search for a transceiver to buy, I haven’t come across any 8500’s with the DB25 as a port.

You need the adapter cable. Its spelled out in the service manual and installation manual. There is NO 25 pin plug on an 8500.
Thank You. I did see that in the service manual. However I called Moto Support and they swore the 8500 was not compatible with the HLN1439 siren amp. You have clarified what I was looking for. Now I'm off to purchase the actual 8500. Thanks for your help!

Sorry to hijack, but I am working on a similar project but am having trouble determining what cable or adapter I need. I am wanting to connect the Whelen Radio Compatible Siren to an O9 head connected to an APX8500. I also have a URC installed for light control. Can someone point me in the correct direction? The siren uses the 25 pin connector but I’m not sure what the other end of the cable should look like, much less where to procure one. Thanks in advanced for any help.
