All,

I'm contemplating getting my AR8200mkIII upgraded to an AR8200D, primarily for the CTCSS and built-in computer interface capabilities.

Can someone tell me whether the CTCSS option would allow me to program a CTCSS tone to each memory channel in my scan list(s), or is it more of a "one tone at a time for all frequencies" capability?

If I can't program a specific CTCSS tone to a specific memory channel, the utility of this upgrade would be very limited and I'll probably skip it and save my $350.

The AR8200D will decode CTCSS but if you are scanning with The CTCSS option on you cannot receive AM stations or P25. If you plan on parking on one frequency or just scanning FM analog only with CTCSS, you are good to go. If you plan on scanning a mix of FM, AM and P25 Phase 1. You CAN'T.

I got that much from other threads and the manual, but what I really need to know is, can an individual PL tone be programmed to each memory channel as needed?

Yes you can program CTCSS into your memory channels.
