AOR has updated the AR8200 mk III to include P-25, CTCSS without a card, USB, and a MicroSD for recording. Also the new GOV version includes voice inversion built in.
Digital Upgrade - AR8200D Handheld Receiver from AOR USA INC.

Popular Communications is reporting an upgrade program is comment for those who want their AR8200 mk III B upgraded to the D (but not export unblocked versions).

Universal Radio has a listing already with price TBA: AOR AR8200D Wideband Receiver AR-8200D

All pending FCC approval.

It should be mentioned here that the P25 capability is likely for conventional freqs, such as those the TSA uses. It won't trunktrack....Mike

Correct Mike. No Trunk following. I'll be interested to see the upgrade price.

Mark W. also pointed out to me that there was already a related thread for this that I must have missed.

Mod, please merge this into the tread. Thanks.

Since these are professional receivers they're used for more than just scanning the local PD or FD.

My past experience hunting down interference in the cell band was made much more easier with the aid of an unblocked receiver. I can't listen with my spectrum analyzer. These devices are more receivers rather than scanners.

Because those idiots who enacted this "feel good" legislation sold out to the CTIA and have not a clue as to what they are doing. I do agree with you and have often thought the same. This is America-you throw enough money into your cause and viola, you get what you want.

It's just like any law, it's a hell of a lot more harder to get rid of it than to pass it in the first place.

I just called AOR and they said the upgrade kits should arrive in about 10 days, there is no word on when the 8200D will be released, it sounds like they are waiting to see if there is any demand before they start production on the "D", so that might mean the only way to get "D" is to send your MkIII in for the "upgrade"
