Some years ago I had a BCD396XT and bought the ARC XT software to program it with. I eventually got rid of the radio but kept the software on my computer. I just bought a 396T, used. My question is, can I use the XT software to program the 396T, or do I have to get the 396T specific software? Thanks in advance for help on this question.

You would need ARC396; the XT version won't work.

However, you can always use FreeScan on the 396T. No reason not to try it, since the price is right. I use FreeScan on both my 396T & 396XT, as well as the 996 & other DMA scanners. I know FreeScan will import data from some of the ARC software versions; not sure about ARC-XT, as I did not purchase that one.
