Greetings all,

I have just opened ARC XT Pro for the first time in a few weeks. When I tried to read from the scanner (BCD325P2) the software crashed. I tried to open the communication settings, but the software crashed again.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, turned off security software, run as administrator, and updated the USB driver software. I am guessing this problem has something to do with the latest Win 10 update.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Please and thank you.

Does virtual control work with the scanner? If it does, there is communication. Make sure control channel output on the scanner is set to Off.

Serial Driver

If you are having problems installing the drivers, see the following general instructions (some steps might differ slightly, depending on your specific operating system).
  1. Download and unzip the below driver.
  2. Plug in the scanner using a USB cable.
  3. Right click on the Windows Launch icon (bottom left corner) and select "Device Manager."
  4. The device shows up with a yellow triangle.
  5. Right click on device and select "Update Driver Software."
  6. Select "Browse My Computer for Driver Software."
  7. Navigate to the folder where you have unzipped the above driver.
The driver installed and is assigned as: Uniden Serial Port (COMx)
(x) will be replaced with the actual port number.

The problem is only impacting Butel software. I can still use other programs (Freescan, Proscan, Uniden applications) with both scanners.
I have contacted Butel to see if they can help.

If it is only affecting the Butel software, your virus protection software may be detecting a security threat and shutting down the program. I have had problems with false positives causing files to be removed and crashing programs.

After much experimentation (and the uninstalling and reinstalling of Butel software and internet security software) I found the problem.
CP210x USB to UART Bridge Virtual COM Port was causing a conflict.
Butel software now working fine again.

Your welcome!
