Help. Since I got my new laptop and download the arc xt software I have got a pop up box that says (component "sonic click mega.ocx" or one of its dependenies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid). After contact with Butel they said to uninstall and reintall. After reinstall and registration I tried to download from scanner to software for scanner info. During download it freezes and I get a arc xt box that now says (check #4). I have uninstalled and installed again with the same results. Can someone help me, I had it on my old laptop with windows XP but now I am running windows 7 with the latest verson of arc xt. It just takes so long with butel with the email responce, one question with one answer a day. I have purchased 996 software, 396 software and others of earlier years without any problems. Please can someone help.

If you're using Windows 7 - 64 bit (not 32 bit), you will have downloading and freezing errors when using the Uniden USB cable. I ended up switching to a Keyspan(?) USB to Serial converter, and using the Uniden serial cable instead, with much better luck.

Also make sure you are installing AND RUNNING, ARC-XT when logged in as an administrator. It gets cranky in Windows 7 with the user rights side of the world, unless you know how to take ownership of the folder and components and add yourself to the full access security group to the folder. (When used as a "user").

Been down this road, to the point that I finally have ARC-XT working properly on my 7/64bit machine.
On my Windows 32bit machine, no issues with the USB cable, and I run in Administrator mode full time on it.
