Im new at this i have bct246,and use arc246 software trunk tracking...
Under the tab,Trunk System Parameters there are 3 things to choose,
Id Scan/search
Icall on or off
Either AFS/decimal

Under trunk frequencies tab there are 3 columns,
Frequency,Name,LCN

under worcester they show EDACS Wide System,
LCN:
851.4625
851.9125
852.0375
852.3625
854.2125
855.4875
855.7125
855.7375
855.9625
855.9875
But they ask for frequencies also
they show this too for police
08-041 F1 East Disp
08-042 F2 West Disp
08-045 F11 Details
09-011 F4 Car-Car
08-121 F5 Car-Car
08-043 F6 Tac-1
anybody know how to prgram thru arc246?

Thanks

To Which Worcester county are you referring? Maryland, Mass., which?
You might try posting your question with a different subject in the state forums, where I have no doubt someone can answer your question.

In any case, I can give you a couple of pointers....EDACS systems must be programmed in LCN or Logical Channel Number order. Unlike a Motorola system, the sequence of the frequencies is VITAL to correctly trunking this kind of system.

In IDscan mode, you would scan ONLY those talkgroups you have programmed in your list. IDSearch would show every talkgroup, regardless of what you have programmed; whatever the system sends you, that's what you see.

ICalls can be thought of as private conversations between 2 or more users; why a user wants an ICall is up to the user to determine. I would suggest making sure you can see both normal and ICall talkgroups

As to the talkgroups; there are 2 ways to represent them - hexadecimal or, as you have it here, AFS which stands for Agency Fleet Subfleet. In your case, AFS would be the selection here.

should have put which state.
They list 10 frequencies in one column and there is also an LCN column in the arc246 software.
Re the 08-841 etc numbers the LCN
or are the numbers 08-841 etc go under the groups?
thanks
ill look for the state forums
thank you

The 246 does not use channel numbers so you must enter the LCN for every trunk frequency. In ARC246 the sequence is not important since you set the LCN per frequency.

In the trunk freq tab you enter the frequencies and LCN, the name is optional and only used in the ARc246 software.

08-841 etc are trunk id's and must be entered in a group.

You can set ID scan or ID search per system, if you dont know any id's use search mode else ID scan so you scan the trunk id's that you programmed.

Icall is optional, if turned on you will also hear icalls.

Trunk id's can be displayed in AFS or decimal format, what you prefer. Most Edacs sites list trunk id;s in AFS format. The software will accept both format, this only sets the way the scanner shows them on the display.

I'm suffering from the same problem, new to trunking and trying to set up a local EDACS here in lehigh Cty, PA. I'm also using ARC246

I printed out the list, I pasted the freq's. Now where do I find the LCN's that go with each freq? It lists AFS numbers, but they are different, right?

Help me to understand where to find the LCN and where the AFS number goes.

Thanks.

I assume you are referring to the Allentown Public Safety System, if so just use that link and if you look at the frequencies listed you will see the LCN number as a small pair of digits just to the left of each frequency.

The AFS is the the same thing as a Talk Group. Put it where ever Butel asks for TG's.

Loumaag :

Thanks for the message, that helps. But a litle more if you
don't mind. I listed the lcn's in the trunk freq. tab under
the lcn collumn.
There are 10 freq's and many more lcn's assigned. Do I continue
listing the lcn's past the freq rows to capture all of them ??

Also, this system is listed as EDACS std. The ARC246 software
does not list this, only edacs narow, wide, and (SCT which locks
up the program).

Sorry for being a bother, but without the support I will not
figure this out. Thanks again.

I assume you mean in the software. There are only 10 Freqs and only 10 LCN's in this system. I have no idea what Butel has done, but consider this, the BC246T only wants the frequencies used, not anything else, so guessing, I would say you leave anything else blank.

EDACS Standard is Wide. EDACS Narrow is ... well narrow

If I thought it was a bother, I wouldn't be here. :)

There are 10 frequencies and 10 LCN's listed, that must be entered in the trunk freq tab. You probably mean trunk id's ( 10-021 etc are trunk id's not LCN's) and they must be programmed in a group.

Edacs standard is Edacs wide in Uniden scanners.

OK, hang with me, I'm getting there.
For example, where are the lcn's on this listing?
I see 20 freq's, trunk ID's listed as decimal or hex (right?.
Also wondering what to do with the column listed as Mode.

That is a Motorola type 2 system and does not require LCN. When you set the system type in ARc246 to Motorola type 2 the LCN column is not shown in the trunk freq. editor.

OK, that would make sense.

But the LCN does appear in the trunk
freq window. I guess I'll ignore it then.

So, on a EDACS system, the LCN's are listed to the left
and in the same box as the freq's?

If the system type is set to motorola, ARC246 will not show the LCN column.
And correct, the numbers in a smaller font left of the freq's are the LCN's.
