ARC396 problems

I'm using the latest version and have two problems with the software.

First, sometimes it won't start. The splash screen will show and I'll see an button on the task bar, but the program seems not to completely load. I've ended up running the set up program in repair mode and that seems to fix it.

Second problem is when I try to load a profile I get a message telling me that the file is not ARC246 compatible or was created with an earlier version. The file loads and operates properly, but this message is a bit annoying.

Anyone have any ideas?

The software is running but is minimized, click on the ARC396 icon in taskbar, right mouse button and select Maximize.

Second problem is when I try to load a profile I get a message telling me that the file is not ARC246 compatible or was created with an earlier version. The file loads and operates properly, but this message is a bit annoying.

One of the mem files in the profile is not the correct type/version and that file is not loaded, therefor the message.

I thought the same thing about it running minimized, but when I clicked on the button on task bar I got a "program is not responding" message.

As to the other, that's interesting. I'd guess that one of the sytem files is outdated.

Hello,

I have had both these problems. I'm not sure what the program not starting is all about, but it does happen just as you described on my system from time to time. As for the second problem, I asked Gommert about this "Profile" problem on the ARC246 Yahoo group. He said that is is "cosmetic" and will be fixed in "a next" release. In my opinion, Arc396 is not quite as refined as Arc246 is.

"Cosmetic" is a good description since the program does function properly in that regard. It's just a bit annoying. OTOH, Gommert is very responsive to bug reports and does upgrade the products pretty quickly.
