Not sure if anyone has posted this or if anyone else has had this problem. When you set up things like the battery type or hit logger in the scanner (from the GLOB menu), this information is not downloaded to the software when you use the "download from scanner" feature. You have to change these things in the software global settings menu (in the "MISC" tab) if you want them to stay correctly set the next time you download info to the scanner. I couldn't figure out why the NiMH batteries were not charging. I kept checking the setting on the scanner (in the GLOB menu) and it kept reverting back to Alkaline. The hit counter kept shutting off as well. I checked the global settings in the software right after changing the settings in the scanner and downloading from the scanner and they were set back to the original settings. I then did this a couple more times and discovered that the same thing happened. I changed the settings in the software and uploaded the data to the scanner and the changes showed up in the scanner. I changed the settings in the scanner and downloaded the data to the software and there was no change in the global settings in the software.
Either the software does not recognize these settings from the scanner or the scanner does not send them (at least on my system). The scanner does recognize these settings when the software downloads it to the scanner. Thus, I have learned it is best to make sure the global settings menu in the software has all the proper settings checked that I want for the scanner's global settings or they will disappear next time I upload data to the scanner.

I'm not seeing the issue that you describe here.

All the "Global" settings I enter into my Pro106 from the keyboard are always transferred to Win500 when downloaded to the software.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the version? I'm running version 1.18 build 1.

each of you is using different software. tom is using ARC500 while the other poster is using Win500. two different software packages, two different results.

Yep, missed that.

Now trying with ARC500 V 1.18 build 1

Same result I had with WIN500, everything I change in the "Global" settings in the Pro106 using the keypad is shown in ARC500 when I download from the scanner to the software.

I specifically tried the battery settings, and all changes entered in the scanner through it's keypad are shown in Arc500 after downloading to the software.

Weird. I just tested it again and the settings in the software did not change to reflect the changes in the scanner. So far, the only settings that do not change are the battery type and the hit counter.
