Arc500 versus Win500

I am buying a Radio Shack Pro 106 scanner and selling my Uniden BCD396T. I am looking for programming software for the Pro 106. Not sure which software to buy. I want easy to use and compatability with Radio Reference. Which should I choose? What is the differences with them?

I have both...However I'm learning the Win500 very fast and beginning to use it more than I do ArC 500, I started with arc500 And liked it but have been studying win500. Editing can be a bit tricky in win500 until you learn it, but I've got it down pretty well now. You can't monitor your scanner or create log files with ARC 500 like you can win500.

You have a fully functional 30 day trial period on most of the software, why not give them a test drive and see which you like for yourself and then you can decide.

Do both software's fill in all the blanks for the scanner or do you still have things you need to set yourself. I want easy. Also how do you like the 106

The software and downloading here from RR pretty well gets you going. As far as the 106 its been a good scanner for me. Highpockets is right one heck of an illustrated guide to help you get going if you choose Win 500.

Couldn't find it on the win500 page, but arc500 offers unlimited updates for free when they are released..

If your talking about the guide, I haven't seen one like that for arc500, unless semone else knows of one.

Yup, the Utah Wiki guide is the best.

ARC has a 41 page pdf which is installed with program. Start>Butel>ARC500>Program Manual. This manual is also set well for the user.
PSREdit has a Help chm file. Windows based but fairly well organized,
ScanControl has a 7 page pdf Quick Setup which is also installed with program, but he has a very detailed user help section on line.
