• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

    If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am in need of an archive codeplug for a radio....

Here's the story: a friend of mine gave these radios to me after a radio shop attempted to program them, but the radio shop didn't make a backup copy of the "original" codeplug in the radios before attempting to write them, the result was that they were "bricked" with a Fail 01/82 due to Programming and NOT as a result of an external hardware failure.

So,....I am attempting to find someone with an archive codeplug that matches the exact model #'s of the radios I have, so that I can attempt to push a "good" codeplug into the radios.

The two radios and their info is as follows:

Radio #1:-> MTS2000 w/Flashport B3 -- Model# H01WCD4PW1BN

Radio #2:-> MTS2000 B7 -- Model # H01WCH4PW1BN

I hope to "save" these radios from being "bricks" if I can get a copy of a good ccodeplug for these models. If you can help, please PM me.

~Thanks!

Sorry for the bad news but from the experience I have that will not work at all due to something called toolproofing which will brick the radio anyway even if you try it. I have tried dumping different codeplugs in to my MTS2000's and bricked them everytime. The ONLY way to bring it back is to Save the S-Record before you start anything. With the S-Record you can bring back your radio every time unless you actually physically damage the radio. If i could help you out with anything else please let me know.
Joe

P.S. The code plug you try to push into it must have the same serial and model number or you run into the toolproofing problem again and even at that I have never gotten a code plug to bring a radio back it needed to be the S-Record.

You *might* be able to clone a good codeplug into the radios to revive them, but you CANNOT and SHOULD NOT directly write the radios with Lab if the radio firmware >R5.42.
