I am looking for an external speaker for my DVMEGA Cast. Someone suggested the Uniden BC7. As I was looking at the Uniden website, the Uniden BC20 specifically states "Stereo Plug for Scanner." The BC7 doesn't specify monaural or stereo. Does anybody here know for sure if the Uniden BC7 is stereo or monaural?

Thank you for the reply. I guess I haven't followed Uniden closely enough to know, do all of their current scanners have a stereo jack? I had a Home Patrol years ago and it did. I went with their amplified speaker and it was plenty loud in the vehicle with that.

Someone I know bought one of the speakers that @GTR8000 linked to and the volume was abysmal. I always assumed you would need a speaker that actually plugs in so you could really crank the volume with the additional amperage of an AC speaker.

Unrelated note, I wonder how an external speaker would sound on the SDS200 with that hum.

I did some snooping around the house this weekend. I ran across a Uniden Bearcat ESP20. It has a 3.5 mm monaural plug. It looks like the Uniden BC20 has a 3.5 mm stereo plug.

I connected the Uniden Bearcat ESP20 to my DVMEGA Cast. It sounds pretty good. I also found a Midland 21-406 in my basement. It also has a 3.5 mm monaural plug. I will be doing some comparisons soon to see how they compare to one another.

I was hoping for a 6 speaker surround system. I think that has 6 rings around the plug..lol Let the debate continue.
