Are there any active frequencies around Fremont county?

Public safety wise there is essentially nothing. Whenever I drive on Highway 50 through Fremont County, I hear almost zero activity on VHF when I put a scanner in band search mode, not even fire paging tones. I'm pretty sure all the fire & public works repeaters shown on the Fremont County page were taken off the air.

Also I've noticed that a number of DTR sites which cover Fremont County don't seem to have frequent affiliations from anywhere outside the county. So it seems to be a bit of a RF wasteland. Maybe someone who lives in the area can comment further.

I actually spoke to a police officer at my school (not naming which one) and he said they everybody moved to digital signals. They moved because my town is a small one, and if i were to have a friend and hear thier name on the radio, It would be awkward to ask them why they were there. That's just what he told me. So, your right. The only frequencies that i know that are active are some train frequencies. If anybody still has actual frequencies, i'd like to hear about them still.

Here, I looked it up for you. There is plenty of ACTIVE frequencies most all are just DE: Which is digital encryption. Won't hear BOO, but there are plenty of other frequencies to listen to.
As far as what that officer told you, it's partially correct. Now why smaller mountain towns and rural areas encrypted I have no idea especially FD, just why> that begs to ask "what are you hiding" In my opinion and thoughts.

What in the Hell happened to the robust scanning environment there? If I take a vacation, it won't be in Colorado. Waco "encrapped" some of the talk groups, but not like this.

Well, thank you, but i don't have a talk group system yet. Only analog. If I find a way to receive trunked systems, I will thank you profusely.

I traveled IH25 one time and most of the talk groups were in the clear.
Did you mean to say I-25? Cause that's not near Fremont county. Unless this was many years ago I'm pretty sure you weren't monitoring stuff in Fremont county, virtually everything there has been ENC for quite a few years ...

Yes, it was IH-25 (Interstate Highway) according to some folks I know, along with the Garmin nomenclature. I looked at the saturation of P25 sites across the state. At the time, there was a statewide P25 system that took me two weeks to program on my PSR 500. I believe it was prior to 2010.

In some states, trunked systems can change names, etc. I don't know what it is called now, if it still exists, or if it is still statewide.

I was quite impressed with the density of trunked systems. The flags in the location were numerous.

I did not stray off IH-25.

Thanks for responding.

Yes, it was November of 2010. I monitored from a Greyhound. The trip was quite surreal. Do folks have access to clear Federal talk groups/frequencies in Fremont County?

I'm not sure I understand. Do you not have a digital trunking scanner?
Yep, dont have one. I only have analog, because the thing that started my radio history was a Realistic Pro 2001 Scanner my grandpa gave me a long time ago. Unfortunately, it broke in an almost scary way just recently.
