In Ocean County,

Lakewood PD is using a 4 channel Mixed Astro/Analog.

Point Pleasant Beach is using a 2 channel Astro w/encryption.

Dover Twp. (aka Toms River) is using 11 (4 repeater 7 simplex) channels Astro w/encryption.

Manchester Twp. is in the process of installing and Astro system with plans to go Astro Trunking in the future.

Stafford Twp. is digital capable but they are using a G.E./Erricson system. They only use 1 channel for digital. They do not use it a whole lot from what I have been told.

I think Little Egg, or someone in that neck of the woods, is going Astro also. I think I had heard that through the grape vine somewhere.

Hi guys,

""Dover Twp PD, Ocean County, near Toms River is digital."
They are the same agency. Toms River, aka Dover Twp."

Just to clarify, the seat of Ocean County, Toms River is but a portion of Dover Township. Like any other it incorporates several towns so you have to know the call districts or have a street map handy to know just where the action is

Someone mentioned Point Pleasant Beach PD, they're on the county trunked system now. The VHF antennas are still around town on the substations but I don't know just what the old channel is being used for if anything.

Since I'm not about buying a brand new scanner I listen to the railroad and Coast Guard as always, just added the new fire and EMS channels. Again I don't know what the old ones are used for but they too are still licenced to the city. Oddly enough "the boro" hasn't changed anything, no big deal, very little crime around here so I hardly listened from the start.

Summer is coming and the tourist invasion begun so I listen on weekends to the "weekend warriors" getting fished out of the drink and the State Police Marine Division handing out wolf tickets to the usual drunken sailors. Come 4 July and it'll be going 24/7 so forget the PD when there is so much better and funnier action going on.
