ABC is good for technical stuff. But not scanners. They don't market any good trunk tracker scanners. At least they don't on their web site. It amazes me how scanner friendly the area agencies are,yet the stores like Radio shack and ABC don't promote products to aid in this wonderful hobby.

I agree with Scannersunlimited. Haven't purchased anything yet but I call him occasionally to find out his prices and is very knowledgeable about programming and features. Very nice guy.

ABC Communications

Does anyone remember the origional ABC Communications store? In the late 70's it was accross the street from the current location that it is now and was 3 times as big. Every Bearcat scanner both base and handheld was on display. This included all CB's and HAM sets.

But mail order was always the way to save money! Scannerworld USA back in the day

Glenn at www.scannersunlimited is an awful nice guy. His knowlwdge is immense! The online prices are ok, not the greatest or cheapest but i do believe he is the type to take the time to more than likely walk you thru any issues on the phone if you were to purchase from his store...I use to live about an hour from that store a few years ago and would make the drive anytime i needed good scanner equiptment. he has just about everything you could want..!!! I in no way benefit from directing people his way, i just believe in good customer service and when i recieve it i like to pass it on... I have always been treated well there.

Just as a FYI The Radio Shack people generally know Nothing about scanning or scanners they sell. This has been my experience with many many RS I have been to. In fact I was in a RS one day when a lady brought back 2 NON-Trunking scanners she had purchased the prior day and was saying that she could not recieve the local PD/.FD etc. I them watched the sales clerk take the scanner from her and try to program in freqs from a list from at least 10 years prior! The Local agencies in this particular town were on an extensive 800 Mhz Trunked System. I politely informed the very nice customer that those scanners would not recieve the local PD/FD and that she needed an 800 Mhz scanner. She looked very upset as that same clerk had sold her those telling her they would recieve "everything".
I showed her the one (Pro-97) which would be the best for that area and she wound up purchasing 2 Pro-97's. the RS Clerk just stood there hyming and hawing as I basically did his job that he was so experienced at. And it was a RS manager as well.. The woman Thanked me greatly and i walked out with a giant grin on my face.... I have been in several RS around a few states and have "overheard" and witnessed RS clerks "talking up" these scanners.. Usually with poor poor and incorrect knowledge... So Aunt Bee just be careful when you do decide to purchase one. Ask around on these boards and ask people who have been in the hobby a long time most are very helpful and willing to help out "new" Scanner enthusiasts...
