Are These Radios Good?

I bought some FPV drones and accessories about 6 years ago, never did anything with it and put it all in storage. Well, now I want to get into RC planes and I remembered that I had these transmitters, a Detrum GAVIN-8C and Taranis Q X7S, brand new never used. I'm probably going to start with a plane model from Horizon that has AS3X & SAFE, can I use one of these radios to connect to a Spektrum receiver? Or should I just sell all this and get a more modern radio?

Darn good question. I discontinued flying in the summer of 2017 (helicopters, not fixed wing). I don't have the helicopters anymore, but I do have my DX8 transmitter. Recently I have been toying with the idea of flying again and have been on my flight simulator. I have noticed some odd quirks with the simulator, the calibration of the DX8 keeps degrading while I am flying, and I have to stop and re-calibrate the transmitter. I don't know if the fault is with the program or with the DX8. Should I take a chance with a 700-class helicopter? A five-foot-wide lawn mower on the loose could be a problem.
