ARE WE PREPARED FOR OKC EDACS?

SINCE OKC WILL SOON BE GOING TO EDACS, WE NEED TO GROUP TOGETHER AND START LISTENING TO THE DISPATCHERS TO ID THEM ON THEIR CHANNELS. SOME MAY GO FROM ONE TO THE OTHER. BUT WE WILL KNOW IF THEY ARE POLICE, FIRE, ANIMAL CONTROL, etc.

WE NEED TO START JOTTING DOWN THE BEATS AND MATCHING THEM WITH EACH DESIGNATORS, i.e. HEFNER=Baker, etc.

etc,etc,.............

THAT WAY WE ARE PREPARED FOR WHEN THEY SWITCH.

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ON TULSA's SIDE OF THE FORUM, AND THE FREQ. DATABASE. IF OKC DOES LIKE TULSA, THEN HOPEFULLY, AND I THINK THAT THE ONLY CHANNELS THAT WILL BE DIGITAL ARE "SOT", "SWAT",
SWITCHOVER, etc.

THE REGULAR CHANNELS LIKE HEFNER Disp., etc., WILL BE LEFT IN ANALOG MODE....................LET'S CROSS OUR FINGERS!!!!!!

I agree on the Oklahoma City Police website it has a map under each of the briefing station of the units check out this link http://www.ocpd.com/ then on the right side of the page click on the station and it will have a map of the area covered and a map of the district etc. labeled for each of the districts. I hope you are right have heard they would only use provoice encryption on swat and stuff then have heard everything but who knows. I think they should leave it open alot of times like just about a month ago channel 9 news picked up a chase and the police had lost the suspect if it wasn't for Ranger 9 they would have lost them they were guiding the police and airone to the location of the suspect. I know alot of times the media is a nuisance but also a very effective tool for law enforcement.

EMSA here in Tulsa went Digital-Then the city of Tulsa gives all the news agencies radios programmed to listen to them. So no matter what the media will probably be able to listen.

The media might be able to listen - but only to the talkgroups they are allowed to listen to. They are testing a lot of digital here, so I have a feeling most of the system will be digital. I posted a few days ago with a bunch of talkgroups I have found, and noted which ones digital has been noticed on. If they are anything like San Antonio (which I think they will be - they have similar 10 codes, similar new radio systems, similar geographic coverage and beats) the media will only get the main dispatch channels - not the tac channels. San Antonio turned on ESK, which "encrypts" the control channel, so even if they leave some groups analog, you still would be unable to trunk them - you would have to listen conventionally (to all those beeps!!!). Since then, ESK has been turned off in San Antonio. I don't know if they were having problems with it or what, but we can only hope it won't be turned on here, and like y'all said - keepin' it analog.

it's working very well. I need to think it out more and better when and if I do the next one. I drilled my hole a little too far down. So now I'm going to come up with an alternative instead of the 1/8 jack. Maybe wire a female 1/8 cable directly into the tap?! Thoughts? Other then that, it's time to go to Radio Shack and restock!

haha! I'm thinking something other then bondo. I'm gonna get creative with it, someway I can take the cable out if I need to and make it look normal again. Stupid Pro92, I remember why I buy mobile scanners instead of HH.

No, you said the City of Tulsa did. I don't think they did. I've spoken to some media people who tell me that they can not listen to EMSA but that it doesn't affect them much. Any one else care to shed light on this for me?

Enough about EMSA and Tulsa - the new OKC EDACS stuff has changed.


FYI:
The same radios that have been on the TGID 273 and 289 have moved to TG 1250 and 1253. 1253 is in analog, and 1250 is in digital.
