I like yaesu the best, but I have radios from all of the major brands.
Anyone who is "brand loyal" really cant say for certain that their brand is the best.
The reason I prefer Yaesu over kenwood is simply due to memory management. Kenwood's scan banks are set up like an older scanner. Channels 1-100 are bank 1 101-200 are bank 2, and so on and so forth.
My Yaesu gear OTOH, Program 146.52 once, and assign it to however many banks I want, Then when I'm searching for something, I can have things grouped together in the memory logically, rather than scan banks. ALSO, if I want something in multiple banks in my Kenwood, I have to program it multiple times taking up space in my radio.
As far as Icom? I just dont like the way their radios operate. Also the scan banks are different. You can only have a channel in one scan bank, but at least you can plunk it down wherever you want. I have an IC-208h and Hate it. I'd get rid of it in a heartbeat if I could.
