It will be scanner nirvana in Tempe this Wednesday as President Bush and Senator Kerry square off in the final debate of the campaign.

Must have's for scanning this event will be:

And of course USSS (search 162.6 to 168 MHz and 416 to 420MHz) Some of their comm's are APCO25 unencrypted for interop! Get your 250, 296 or PRO96 ready! I have the 250 and the 96 and they will be searching the bands for new SS freq's. I'll try to post what I find right here as I find it.

I plan on doing plenty of logging during this event - should be a boon for Valley scannerheads... oh and the debate might be pretty entertaining as well :wink:

If I forgot any good freq's, please post them here so we can all benefit. Oh and I recommend avoiding the freeways and surface streets near ASU - it will be a traffic nightmare.

Good monitoring for today:

Phoenix DTRS, talkgroups 271 thru 275 (Support staff, perimiter security), Tempe TRS talkgroups: 33840 (motorcade detail), 33712 (Tactical for motors) 33744 (Mill ave), 33776 (Tactical) 33872 (Security detail/liason to TPD)

On the federal band, I found something really unusual - a 9600 baud control channel. It reports as part of the Phoenix DTRS, tower 107, which I have never seen before. Unfortunately, I live too far away from it to receive it either here at work or at home where I can run any sort of analysis on it. I picked it up as I drove home last night. It seems to be a low power CC set up strictly for this event.

If anyone is near the area, see if you can trunktrack it on 165.6400. Not sure about base/offset but try 136.000/12.5 I wish I could receive it here, if I could I'd run P96Com on it.

That's all I have so far. If anyone comes across more, please post.

Oh and in regards to the "monitoring target" I'm not sure what frequency a trauma plate inside a bulletproof vest would be found on. Good luck with that. :roll:
