In the Kingman area the 800 Mhz AIRS frequency of 851.0125 used by the State of Arizona and its political subdivisions is usually very quiet. A few minutes ago it was retransmitting activity from Southern Nevada where the LVMPD was testing communications with the Henderson PD, Nevada State Police dispatch, North Las Vegas PD, and the Las Vegas Fire Alarm Office. All the transmissions were analog. This is a good frequency to keep in your scanner if you reside in the Northern portion of Mohave County. You never know what you might hear, something local or out of state.

Nice find! I'm always scanning state and nat'l interop frequencies. Lots of interesting stuff pops up fairly often.

Most state capitals have NIFOG repeater in VHF, UHF, 700 or 800 from the pool of channels.
As officer travel nationwide, the conventional is available to contact the local dispatch center. As agencies buy new radios, they can travel anywhere in US & stay connected to their home trunked system. Via cellular.

CA uses NIFOG repeater for basic coverage of main interstates. Beyond that a statewide pool is used instead of NIFOG.

Not sure how NV uses NIFOG.

My guess he took a break from scanners before trunking, NIFOG etc. Whole new world since back in the day!
