Location
Paragould/Greene County AR
Maybe someone in the state can answer but I'm confused A bit here..

Here's the deal.. The county next to me which would be the Pocahontas area which is in Randolph County, I can hear their radio traffic from my location here in the Paragould Area which is in Greene County, then county to the east.
Now my question is this: Everytime there is a brush/forest/wild/grass fire, the dispatch office in Pocahontas will page out the closest fire department, This is normal, However they also set off a tone and page out Arkansas Forestry, Now, Is this just done in select counties or does every county in the state have this service? The reason I ask is because every singe time Randolph County has one of the above type fires, Arkansas Forestry is paged to it as well, However, everytime Greene County has any of the type of fires listed above, I have never heard them page Arkansas Forestry out, Even when pager tests are done in Randolph County They're paged for it as well, Doesn't happen in Greene County...i have never once heard a mention of the forestry service. Which brings me to the next thing, Is it only available in certain select counties, Do the counties have to opt in to get the service, How does that work? Anyone know?
Thanks For The Help! Ya'll! Appreciate It!

Sounds like Randolph County has given Forestry employees pagers/radios on their fire system. I've heard Forestry going on lots of wildfires and sometimes talking direct with local fire departments, but the Forestry dispatch center got the call from the 911 system or fire department on the telephone instead of it being paged. Forestry goes on wildfires in lots of other counties in the State. Since you are in Greene County, you are probably in the best position to get an answer up there on how it works there.
