Does anyone know if there is a statewide police interagency frequency used in Arkansas? In Missouri, 155.370 is commonly used between police departments and sheriffs departments to communicate with each other. Similarly, 155.010 is used in Alabama and 39.900 in Nebraska. If there is no statewide interagency police frequency, then how do they share info with each other? Teletype?

Thanx

weather is right.

They use National Law 155.47500

Also the first link posted, the use some of the 800 interoperable freqs, especially when doing ops with Air 1.

I've had those 37-megahertz frequencies (37.240, 37.200, and 37.100) in my scanner for months now, and I've heard nothing here in Batesville.

They don't use them here in South Arkansas either.

I think the old 37 MHz system has been phased out in favor of AWIN in many regions. Likewise, as more and more users come onto AWIN, they will use the interoperability features of the system to talk from one county to another.

In the past 37.24 MHz was used as a statewide mutual aid channel, which allowed for intercounty calling. However, when Skip was running wide open, this channel was a real nightmare to monitor, as other departments from all over the USA and Mexico would drown out the local radio traffic. The use of CTCSS or PL tone would have eliminated much of the interference, but most of the base radios were too old to accommodate such features. Nevertheless, it was decided that 155.475 would be the best choice, especially when its recommended nationally.

Many departments in Arkansas will send messages to each other over the teletype, rather than listening to the noise and foreign stations on 37.24 MHz. Moreover, After the events on 9-11, interoperability became the buzzword, and now every state has some sort of plans to implement a statewide trunked radio system.

Interoperability

Thanks, Ron, for the info. I have enjoyed listening to AWIN on my RS Pro-96 scanner. I recently came here from Florida, which implimented its own 800 Mhz statewide system in 2003. Called SLERS (State law Enforcement Radio System), it is MA/COM Open Sky with ESK encryption - completely unmonitorable! Forget about listening to Florida Highway Patrol, it can't be done. So it is nice to be able to listen in on the Arkansas State Police, and be able to hear BOTH sides of the conversation - not just the base, as is usually the case with states that still use simplex VHF systems.

Anyway, I'll try listening to 155.475 and see if I hear anything on it. I've monitored this channel off and on as a nationwide mutual aid channel since I first got in to scanning in the early 1980's, but I have rarely ever heard anything on it.
