It might mean you need to take out the Motorola Type I mapping. Arlington is now entirely Type II.

So they are completely type II now? When i went to the race and tow show last year i think they were still Type IIi. I'll have to update that for when I got to the race next year! :wink:

You will get that error if you forget to set the bank to the appropriate trunking type (EDACS or Motorola) Been there, done that with Win95. :)

As far as public-safety systems are concerned in the general DFW Area;

Grand Prairie, Mansfield, and D/FW Airport are digital, with D/FW being a EDACS Provoice system and thus not scannable. :(

The other two are Apco-25 IMBE Motorola systems and can be scanned with a capable scanner. (Pro96 or a digital-capable Uniden)

DPS will also eventually go over to APCO-25 on their new narrowband channels but that is not in this area yet.

ok so i guess getting a 96 would be pretty wasteful since i live in FT.Worth but thats beside the point. i got arlington squared away but now my pr-95 wont lock out the data channels in arlingtons system. i tried doing it on my scanner with no luck then i tried locking them out through win95 and they STILL come up. any thoughts?

I think Provoice is only in San Antonio, not in D/FW, but I could be wrong.

DFW airport is confirmed ProVoice. All other digitals in the immediate area are 3600 bps mixed systems.

You can also add the JRB as one of the mixed systems.

Open vs Closed mode

The Control Channel Only feature won't be of much use, as the scanner being discussed is a Pro-95 (a GRE model) and doesn't have that feature.

To get the 95 to honor your lockouts, you have to set the bank to "closed" mode.

To do that from the scanner, go into Program mode on that bank, and hit Func then 5. This will change the + symbol to a - symbol, indicating the bank is closed.

In Win95, check the Closed box between the Bank Name field and the System Type combo box.

I too wish that the 95 had the feature of honoring lockouts even while in open mode, as one of the systems I scan regularly (Lewisville PS) has those annoying data talkgroups on it too. Makes it a pain to discover "secret" talkgroups.
