Using a PRO-96 around DC Metro area ...Reception is clear and crisp for most jurisdictions except Arlington County. Transmissions tend to have a fair amount of static noise throughout my various locations in county. Any thoughts or suggestions welcomed.

Not much you can do, unless you can get a better antenna. It's the nature of an analog system. Look for Arlington to switch to a true Project 25 (9600 bps) system soon, however. You should be able to copy that system better.

Yeah. Arlington County's signal doesn't seem to be all that strong. As others have said, it is most likely just your antenna. Using the antenna I have (a really bad one), I can receive Fairfax and other counties from a lot farther away than I can from Arlington. Just try using a different antenna or wait to see if the switch to P25 solves things.

Even when in Arlington with a good 800mhz antenna the reception is static-ridden. It was slightly better with Uniden's BCD-396T, but not by much.

As stated before, Arlington is switching to P-25 [digital] soon - actually heard an EMS unit ask dispatch yesterday if they should "be using the new radio system" & were told "not quite yet".
