I am new at this and having some issues programming this system for some reason into my BCD396T.

Using the uniden software, I set the system as an 800MHz type2 standard (or does it need to be 'splinter'?), I entered the main control channel and the three additional, alternate control channels, checked the 'control channel only' box. I did not mess with the "band plan" option at all.

When scanning and all other systems are locked out, I only get the ID SCAN screen. when pushing hold, it goes to the control channel and I can turn the dial so it goes to one of the TGs - then the screen flashes FINDING CONTROL CHANNEL.

What did I screw up on? thanks.

It's a 'hybrid' system, not a pure "Type 2". But that won't cause what you are seeing. [Hybrid because a few talkgroups are Type I; look at the County Services group. That's all you'll miss.]. Splinter is only used near international borders.

"Finding Control Channel" on the display could mean you are not getting a strong enough signal for the scanner to successfully track the system. How far from the system are you, and which antenna are you using?

Is this the system? There is a note about them possibly switching to the P-25 system., but not much information entered on it. Maybe that switch is farther along? If not, it's also possible that the existing Type 2 system has changed control channels, or added an additional one, besides the 4 listed currently. You can use the Custom Search function, set to 'C-Ch only' to try and locate it. Or, enter the system frequencies in a test Conventional system, and load it in the scanner. Either scan it, or manually step through the channels, and see if you hear control channel noise. It will be a constant, throbbing, noise, sometimes described as a diesel engine or motorboat.

Nice, thank you for the fast replies! I will give it a shot and change it to type2 standard. I did use the data from the link in above post to program.

I am in NW DC as we speak, but will be in Arlington later in the afternoon and will give it another shot!
